St-Laurent Wood Siding Installation
Tired vinyl stripped to the sheathing and replaced with warm St-Laurent wood composite siding, flashed for Ottawa weather.
View Project →A classic Nepean bungalow, modernized with a warm Fiberwood fluted wood feature wall at the entry, set against black brick and black-framed windows for a sleek, contemporary look.
Nepean is full of solid, well-built bungalows from the mid-century era. Great bones, but often a dated face. This homeowner had already taken the bold step of going black on the brick and trim; the facade needed one warm, textured element to make it feel finished and intentional.
We installed a Fiberwood fluted wood siding feature wall at the front entry. The vertical ribs add depth and shadow, the warm wood tone contrasts beautifully with the black, and the panel draws your eye straight to the front door, which is exactly where you want it.
With feature walls, precision is everything. Every flute has to run perfectly plumb and every edge has to meet the windows, soffit and stone step cleanly, because there's nowhere to hide on a panel this close to the front door.
Black and warm wood is one of the most striking pairings in modern home design. On this Nepean bungalow it turns a familiar 1960s-era shape into something that looks fresh, custom and high-end, without a full rebuild.
Fluted siding is a smart way to add serious design impact for a focused investment. A single feature wall at the entry, around a garage, or under a front window can change how the whole home reads from the street.
Entry walls take more weather than you'd think: rain off the roof edge, snow piled against the wall, and meltwater pooling on the step all winter. A feature wall that isn't flashed and sealed properly can let water behind it and into the wall framing, where it does damage long before you notice.
Fiberwood fluted panels are designed to resist moisture, rot and fading far better than real wood, and we install them over a proper weather barrier with flashing at the top and clean, sealed transitions at the window and door edges. That way the wall stays beautiful and the structure behind it stays dry.
Shortcuts on any of these are what cause hidden rot, mould and drafts years later — and they can void the siding manufacturer's warranty.
From Bells Corners and Craig Henry to Centrepointe and Manordale, Nepean has thousands of bungalows, split-levels and two-storeys built between the 1950s and 1980s. Many still have original exteriors that are ready for an update, and a well-chosen siding upgrade is one of the fastest ways to modernize them and lift their value.
Whether it's a single feature wall like this one or a complete siding replacement, we bring the same itemized quote and owner-managed workmanship to every Nepean home.
